The Aguiar family has been growing coffee with love for nine generations.
It all started in 1860, when the family ancestors started growing coffee in Santo Antônio do Amparo in the south of Minas Gerais, a region famous for its coffee production. The first chapter of the Fazenda Semente farm began in the 1970s, when Edmundo Coutinho Aguiar's father and grandfather packed their bags and moved to Patrocínio in the Cerrado Mineiro. He planted his first coffee trees in 1988 on 24 hectares of land.

The Aguiar family still proudly grows coffee on the same farm as years ago, but in a larger production area. They continue their work with unwavering passion, dedication and respect for the coffee cherries they grow, while paying homage to traditional farming practices and embracing new technologies and approaches for sustainable business. The result is a combination of modernity and tradition that ensures quality in every cup.

Cerrado de Minas was the first Brazilian coffee-growing region to be granted the status of Designation of Origin (Cerrado Mineiro), giving it a status similar to that of wine-growing regions. With an altitude of 800-1300 masl and well-defined seasons (humid summers and mild to dry winters), this region is well suited to coffee growing. Two of the most popular varieties here are Mundo Novo and Catuai. Since 2016, Fazenda Semente has been certified with the international Rainforest Alliance and 4C certifications. A preserved ecological corridor runs through the farm, allowing the local flora and fauna to flourish.
