V najbolj\u0161ih primerih se tak pristop lahko razvije do te mere, da se planta\u017ea spreobrne v tako imenovane agro-gozdove (ang. Agroforest).<\/p>\n<p>Agrogozdarstvo je namerno vklju\u010devanje dreves in grmovnic v poljedelske in \u017eivinorejske sisteme za ustvarjanje okoljskih, gospodarskih in dru\u017ebenih koristi.Najve\u010dji uspeh je stopnja, ko se celotna povr\u0161ina razvije v enoten ekosistem, kjer imajo rastline medsebojno korist, vnos kmetijskih dodatkov pa postane prakti\u010dno nepotreben. Agrogozd tako postane zato\u010di\u0161\u010de za avtohtone rastline in \u017eivali, poleg tega je \u0161e bolj uspe\u0161en pri zajemanju ogljika iz ozra\u010dja kot klasi\u010dno kmetovanje.<\/p>\n<p>Minas Gerais je najve\u010dja brazilska zvezna dr\u017eava za pridelavo kave, saj je tej polj\u0161\u010dini namenjenih 1,2 milijona hektarjev. Njene tri glavne regije so Sul do Minas (Jug Minasa), Cerrado in Matas de Minas (Gozdovi Minasa). Ugotovitve so bile pozitivne, saj so kmetije v povpre\u010dju letno shranile 10,5 tone CO2 na hektar. Z drugimi besedami, biomasa rasto\u010dih kavovcev je absorbirala ve\u010d CO2, kot ga je proizvedla.<\/p>\n<p>Raziskovalci so vzeli vzorce zemlje in kavovcev na \u0161tirih parih kmetij, ki zrcalijo realno prakso pridelave v regiji. Profesor Carlos Eduardo Cerri z Univerze v S\u00e3o Paulu je bil z rezultati zadovoljen. Dejal je: &#8220;Ugotovitve \u0161tudije ka\u017eejo, da uporaba dobrih praks pri gojenju kave ustvarja dodatno sekvestracijo ogljika, saj se v tleh in rastlinah zadr\u017ei veliko ve\u010d CO2, kot se ga sprosti v ozra\u010dje.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u0160tudija je razkrila pozitivne u\u010dinke celo na posestvih, kjer se kava prideluje na bolj tradicionalen na\u010din. Tudi ta dejavnost namre\u010d zadr\u017ei ve\u010d CO2 kot izpusti toplogrednih plinov. To pomeni, da so tradicionalne prakse prav tako naprednej\u0161e z vidika trajnosti. Brazilija je tudi \u017ee sprejela ukrepe za ohranjanje narave. Obmo\u010dja trajnega ohranjanja narave (Permanent Preservation Area \u2013 PPA) so zavarovana naravna obmo\u010dja s strogimi omejitvami izkori\u0161\u010danja, kar pomeni, da neposredno gospodarjenje na teh tleh ni dovoljeno. V obliki teh zakonitih rezervatov je za vsak hektar kavovcev v povpre\u010dju shranjenih 50 ton ogljika.<\/p>\n<p>Ob vo\u017enji skozi brazilske kavorodne regije tako ni redko videti kavnih planta\u017eih, obkro\u017eenih z gozdnatimi pasovi. Nekatere kmetije, kot je Daterra, so se \u017ee zavezale, da bodo svojo pridelavo kave naredile bolj zeleno in postale \u0161e bolj oglji\u010dno negativne. To pridelovalcem tudi omogo\u010da prodajo emisijskih kuponov.<\/p>\n<p>Po dveh pozebah leta 2021 nekateri kmetje vidijo re\u0161itev v sajenju dreves. Nasad dreves okoli kmetije lahko pomaga za\u0161\u010dititi kavovce pred hladnim vetrom, medtem ko kro\u0161nje v nasadu tvorijo kupolasto za\u0161\u010dito.
